Biographical Sketch: Alexander Allan is a Master of Science student in the Transportation Technology and Policy (TTP) program at the University of California, Davis. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Davis and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Business Studies and Accounting from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. His research is in the area of infrastructure requirements to support alternative fuel vehicles: in particular, he is intrigued by interactions between the transportation and electric power sectors. Currently, he is investigating the opportunities and challenges of integrating an electric-drive vehicle fleet powered by low carbon transportation fuels and a power grid supplied by an increasing component of renewable resources such as wind and solar energy.
