Hydrogen is supposed to be the useful energy carrier for future hydrogen vehicles. Compared to the gaseous hydrogen, liquid hydrogen has the capability to store more amount of energy because of its high density. Therefore, it has been used as fuel in space vehicles. Liquid hydrogen, on the other hand, has the disadvantage in the boil-off gas loss. This is inevitable because of the temperature gravity over approximately 250 degrees. Minimization of boil-off gas loss is very challenging. In order to reduce the boil-off gas loss, slush hydrogen is considered to be a sufficient energy media. Use of slush hydrogen rather than atmospheric pressure liquid hydrogen, which is the mixture of solids and triple point liquid hydrogen, provides the great advantage in density and cooling capacity. Therefore, we focuses on the slush hydrogen and have performed R and D. This paper describes our current development status and topics of the representative hydrogen refueling overall system composed of slush hydrogen production, transportaion, and storage.
