Energy Security, Energy Diversity: A Role for Hydrogen Technologies?

C.G. Michael Quah, Concurrent Technologies Corporation

Military programs involving new technologies must be driven primarily from military requirements and the needs of the warfighter. In the arena of alternative energy, hydrogen technologies are often offered as the advanced solution to our energy problems. In this presentation, the speaker will state categorically that hydrogen is NOT the “magic bullet” solution to the multitude of challenges in energy security. However, in the interests of energy diversity, the speaker will discuss where hydrogen technologies would make sense for niche applications and offer some advantages to improving some force operating capabilities for the warfighter from his/her home base to the battlefield.
